How to write an invoice for handyman work
- A trip charge as one flat first line, if you charge one. Mention it when you book.
- Each job on its own line, with its hours or a flat price, so the customer sees where the time went.
- Hours as decimals: 45 minutes is 0.75.
- A minimum, like the first hour, as one line; extra time as another.
- Materials on one line, or one line per costly item. Keep the receipts.
- Parts the customer supplied, in the notes: you bill labor only.
Why send an estimate first?
The customer agrees to each job and its time before you start, even by text. Then one tap turns the estimate into the invoice.
