The problem it solves
- You want to turn a paper page into a clean, readable PDF without a scanner or a computer.
- You want to find a receipt or a letter by a word inside it, without opening every scan.
- You want to copy the text off a page without typing it again.
- You want a file small enough to email, without guessing at settings.
- You want a scanner app without ads in your way.
Why we’re making it
Most paper only needs three things: a clean copy, a way to find it again, and a small file to send. PDF Scanner does those. Every scan becomes searchable on your device, so the receipt you need is a word away, and the share sheet tells you the file’s size before you send it.
What it does
Everything below is in the version waiting for Apple’s review.
- Scan with the camera, many pages at a time; add pages later, or import photos.
- Three looks for one page or all of them: Original, Grayscale or Black & White. Rotate, reorder or delete pages, and change your mind later.
- The text is read on your device when you save and laid invisibly under the page, so search finds the words inside every scan, with a snippet and the word highlighted.
- A Text tab with Copy All and Share Text.
- Names from the date, or suggested from the page's text; folders, sorting and merging.
- Share as a PDF or JPG in Large, Medium or Small, on Letter, A4 or Fit paper, with an optional PDF password, from the share sheet or to Files.
Who it’s for
Anyone with paper to keep or send: receipts for taxes, letters, school forms, warranty cards, a page of notes.
- A freelancer scans a stack of receipts at the kitchen table, then finds the hardware-store receipt later by searching a word printed on it.
- A tenant scans a letter from the landlord, copies the reference number from the Text tab and pastes it into an email.
- A parent scans a three-page school form in Black & White and emails it at Small size so it goes through.
- Someone keeps every warranty card in one folder and finds the right one by searching the product's name.
