Signer: sign and fill PDF documents on your iPhone

Signer is an eSign app for iPhone and iPad. Its App Store name is “eSign: Document Signer & Fill”. Open a PDF, place your signature or initials, add text, dates and checkmarks, then share the signed PDF. No account is needed, and your documents stay on your device.

Status: Submitted to the App Store, waiting for Apple's review. It isn't on the App Store yet, so there is no App Store page to link to.

Email me when it launches

No form and no mailing list: your email stays in our inbox, and we reply once, when the app is on the App Store.

The problem it solves

  • You want to sign a PDF someone sent you, on your phone, without printing it, signing it and scanning it back.
  • You want to fill in a form's blanks (a name, today's date, a checkmark) without a computer.
  • You want a signature you draw once and use again, without drawing it on every document.
  • You want to sign without making an account or putting your documents in someone's cloud.

Why we’re making it

Signing a PDF should take a minute: open it, put your signature where it goes, send it back. Signer does that and stops there. You don’t need an account, there are no documents in a cloud, and nothing to set up before your first signature.

Signer makes an electronic signature: your drawn or photographed signature placed on the PDF. Whether a document needs a different kind of signature is up to whoever asked you to sign it.

What it does

Everything below is in the version waiting for Apple’s review.

  • Sign a PDF: place your signature or initials, drag and resize them, and pinch to zoom, on any page of a long document.
  • Make your signature and initials: draw them with your finger or Apple Pencil, or photograph your signature on paper and the paper turns transparent. Black or blue ink, saved for next time.
  • Scan a paper page to PDF with the camera, then sign it in the app.
  • Fill the blanks: text, today's date, checkmarks, and stamps such as APPROVED or PAID, or a word of your own.
  • Open documents from Files, Photos or another app's “Open in”.
  • A document list that marks each one Draft or Signed, and saves as you go.
  • Share the signed PDF, flattened so your signature and text are part of the page: Mail, Messages, AirDrop, print or Files.
  • Works offline.

Who it’s for

Anyone who gets a PDF to sign and doesn't want to print it: a permission slip, a work order, a delivery note, a form from school or the office.

  • A parent gets a school permission slip by email, signs it on their iPhone and sends it back from Mail before the bus leaves.
  • A contractor fills in a customer's work order (name, today's date, a checkmark), signs it on site and AirDrops it to the office.
  • A freelancer stamps a supplier's invoice PAID, initials each page and saves it to Files.
  • Someone with a paper form and no printer photographs the form, signs the scan and shares it as a PDF.

Languages and devices

The app is in English. Its App Store page is written in 11 languages, and the pages in other languages say that the app itself is in English. For iPhone and iPad.

Price

Signing is in the app; sharing or saving a signed PDF needs Signer Pro, a paid upgrade. Prices will show on the App Store page once Apple approves the app, and in the app before you pay.
