The problem it solves
- You want to tell a story as a chat between your characters, without drawing every bubble by hand.
- You want a video of the story with typing dots and sounds, without recording your screen and editing it.
- You want your stories to look like your own, with your own characters and themes.
- You want your drafts kept in one place, without an account or an upload.
Why we’re making it
Stories told in text messages are a format of their own: the pauses, the typing dots, the reply that lands a beat too late. Chat Story Maker is planned as a writing tool for that format, and for fiction only: every character is invented, the themes are its own, and nothing can be sent to anyone.
Planned features
What the first version is planned to do. Nothing is built yet, and the plan may change.
- A chat editor with 2 to 8 characters, group chats, and photo and voice-note bubbles.
- Play the story back with typing dots and sounds, and export it as a vertical video up to 3 minutes long.
- Six templates to start from in each language.
- Export the whole story as one tall image.
- Six fixed themes: light, dark and four color sets.
- A library of your saved stories, and on iPad the editor and the preview side by side.
- Made for stories only: invented characters, its own themes, no status bar, no sending and no calls.
Who it’s for
People who write fan fiction and made-up chat stories, and post them as short text-story videos.
- A fan fiction writer turns a chapter into a group chat between four characters and exports a two-minute video to post.
- A student writes a short mystery told in messages, with a photo bubble as the clue, and shares it as one tall image.
- A creator starts from a Spanish template, renames the characters and plays the story back to check its timing before exporting.
Languages and devices
Planned in English, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil). For iPhone and iPad.
